Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW)
- BOW began at the University of Wisconsin-Steven’s point out of the idea that women would like to be more involved in the outdoors, but traditionally did not have a supportive place to learn. BOW provides opportunities for women to learn skills that enhance and encourage participation in outdoor activities and conservation.
- Hands-on, outdoor workshops provided in a safe atmosphere with expert instructors. No experience or special equipment necessary. Workshops span a weekend with 4 blocks of instruction. During each instructional period, 6 courses are offered, 24 in total. Participants register for 1 choice per time period.
- Unique curriculum in that 1/3rd of the activities focus on general outdoors recreation and/or informational courses about natural resources; 1/3rd focus on fishing and/or boating; and 1/3rd focus on shooting sports and/or hunting.
- Workshops taught during the spring and fall annually.
- Workshops begin at noon on Friday and end at noon on Sunday and include 2 night’s lodging and 7 meals.
Primarily offered for women 18 and older. |
