A Guide To Writing A Cause And Effect Essay On Julius Caesar

The tricky part to this type of essay you have to write is that you need to conform to the standards of a cause and effect essay while at the same time exploring something about Julius Caesar that can be fit into the cause and effect paradigm.

This type of paper is concerned with the cause, or why something happened as a result of the effect. This is actually a common type of paper to assign and once you get the hang of it, it shouldn’t be too difficult. Now that you are thinking about choosing a specific cause and what the consequences of the cause were, or what it resulted in, it won’t be too difficult to choose something in Caesar’s life to write about.

Here are some examples of topics for this paper, written in very general terms so you can look through them and see if something in particular comes to your mind.

  1. What were the effects of power for Julius Caesar and those around him?
  2. How did betrayal lead to his downfall?
  3. What were the effects of one of his fateful decisions?
  4. What were the effects of corruption on the man’s character?
  5. What are the effects of conquering a people?

Choose your topic and then conduct your research with that topic in mind. As you read through your materials, take notes and make sure you keep track of which source each note comes from. You’ll need that information for your references and citations. Write down all the main topics and any subheadings that fit under them.

This is the information you will use to construct your outline for your paper. If writing a 5 paragraph essay, you will only need 3 main supporting points for your topic statement. Your paper will have an introduction, each main point will comprise one paragraph, and then the 5th and final paragraph is the conclusion.

If your paper must be much longer than this, it would be wise to gather a lot more resources to build more paragraphs with. Use the supporting points and the notes you’ve taken to make an outline. Believe it or not, an outline can save you a lot of time. It also ensures you stay on track and keep the focus of the topic. Finally, make sure to proofread before handing it in.
